An enjoyable horror short (26 minute run time) from Fearnnet.
Summary: A teenaged boy in New Jersey buys something online that ends up killing him faster than a Camaro with bad breaks and bald tires.
The villain in this story is a piece of wood taken from the Devil's Tree, "a tree in New Jersey that they used to hang people from", as the goth main character succinctly explains. You know he's a goth and not a hipster because of his black fingernails. There are no ghosts or zombies, just a bad piece of wood that ruins stuff for stupid people.
Cut-off from contact with their mother, who is apparently on an unexplained business trip, two teens face a cursed piece of wood in question and face the prospect of either selling and trying to pass the curse onto the next patsy (reminiscent of the ending of the first "Ring" movie).
The effects are vivid without being overblown and the casting is well-done, including all of the secondary characters. Shot to be featured in five minute segments as a series, the plot moves extremely fast with almost no down time. Because of the short run time, the constant action doesn't get tedious. Not a bad way to spend 26 minutes.
