A new fix for floppers...

Americans seem to hate the soccer floppers and any other flopper that is not on their team. It's been going on since the beginning of sports, so it's time to look for a new fix. Video replay. Hockey, Basketball, Soccer, and other sports that are effected and actually earn revenue could fix this problem rather easily.

I'm not saying that every time a guy hits the ground, we need to stop a game and look to the replay. I'm saying, give the coaches and players a couple of times a match. Say you get two "challenges" where the ref will be given the opportunity to review his call. Maybe you know he made the wrong call, but he just had a bad angle on the play. Call reversed, no problem.

Now, how would this get rid of floppers? If a player were to John Stockton someone (gratuitous arms waving, no one actually touched him flop), that player would get flopping points put on his or her team. On the first flop, the player would get a warning, and the other team would get free throws or a penalty kick. Two in one game, and you are out of the game. Obviously, you could claim that you injured yourself and that's why you hit the deck. Injured players must be removed from the game immediately and for the next five minutes of play. This would end stars flopping near the end of close games.

Star players could no longer flop, but there seems to be less incentive for lesser players in this case. As your team accrues flopping points, your organization would forfeit a certain percentage of the gate for that contest. Two convicted flops equals 10% reduction in revenue for the game.

The money could go to charity, or back into the hands of the ticket holders. Two flops equals a free round of drinks for everyone in the building. Imagine watching Jason Kidd run under Paul Pierce in the play-offs and drawing a bs charge to almost decide the game. Then the Celtics asks for a review, the ref corrects the call, which now doesn't hurt the Cs and the Nets go home a little poorer and we all get free drinks, Instead of contemplating never watching the game again, you're now saying, "I love this game."
