Some reasons I could never vote for my neighbor Mitt.

http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2007/08/romney_has_a_li.html

Reason one:

For a guy who flipped out about being asked questions about his religion, setting up the "Ask Romney Anything" seems like an asinine idea. Of course, he gave the wrong answers with full confidence and later "corrected the record." I have a friend who would like to "correct the record" on her resume, the problem is when she tried to correct the record her employer held her accountable. Can Romney say he was "mistaken" or is admitting being human too much to ask.

Reason two:

Further, Romney has a great explanation on why his family doesn't serve his country in the military. Obviously they are making the ultimate sacrifice for our country by helping get him elected president. Does that mean I can get out of military service by volunteering for a campaign. That would be equivalent? Sorry Lieutenant Dan, I need to go home and help my dad get a job. Can I get out of the combat zone and head home? Somehow that doesn't seem likely.

I don't personally serve in the military, and I know I'm not made for the military. First of all, my knees, feet, and hips are just about dead from arthritis, second, I wasn't born with the ability to follow rules and regulation to the letter of the law. I can't be in the military because I personally would go crazy thinking of better ways of doing things than the Army Way, and screwing things up for everyone else.

In summation, the country is better served keeping me out of the military. Obviously, saying your kids are serving the country by trying to get you elected is some kind of joke, but I wish he would let us in on the joke and not be so oblivious to think he would fool anyone with that crap.

Reason three:

They think they know poverty because they slummed it Utah:

http://media.www.dailyutahchronicle.com/media/storage/paper244/news/2002/03/26/Opinion/Mitt-Needs.Dose.Of.Reality.To.Continue.Success-222975.shtml

"Ann Romney also spoke of their brief brush with poverty during their time at Brigham Young University. They lived liked paupers, staying in a $62 a month apartment, but they weren't so destitute that Mitt had to get a part-time job. That's because, according to Ann, "Mitt had enough of an investment from stock that we could sell off a little at a time." "

I could try to delve into the difference of slumming it and living in poverty, and I could talk about it angrily for days. Basically, when you are impoverished, you have NO CHOICES. You don't get to decide what to eat, where to live, how to get around, and sometimes you don't get to feed your loved ones when the are hungry. You get to watch your family live in desperation.

I have never lived in poverty and I can't tell you from experience what it is like. I have worked with dozens of people who live that reality everyday. When you can DECIDE not to work, even for a day, you don't live in poverty, you live in luxury.

Reason four:

Finally is he qualified other than trying to fulfill his father's dream, because we are just ending a presidency like that and I don't feel it went so well. Romney's father failed at a presidential bid and his mother also failed at gaining her desired political office, and now he's a political heavyweight.

I seem to remember a boxer whose father that fought for the heavyweight title. The guy got crushed. Of course, his son got into the family business and the promoters gave him a chance. That went over so well for Hurrican't Peter McNeely, he was soon getting knocked unconscious by a cheese filled pizza in advertisements across the country. At least that guy let us in on the joke.
